Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-06-14
This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies TradeByBar uses, why we use them, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. "Cookies" here also covers similar storage such as localStorage.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a site stores on your device. It can be a "session" cookie (deleted when you close the browser) or a "persistent" cookie (kept until it expires or you remove it). Cookies can be set by us ("first-party") or by a service we use ("third-party").
Cookies and storage we use
- Session cookie (strictly necessary): a single
httpOnly, secure,SameSite=Laxcookie that keeps you signed in. It expires after 30 days (or when you log out). Without it the Service cannot work, so it does not require consent. - Theme preference (functional): we store your light/dark theme choice in your browser's
localStorage(tbb_theme) and remember which onboarding tutorials you have seen (tbb_tut_seen_*).localStorageentries have no expiry date; they stay on your device until you clear this site's data. They are not sent to advertisers. - Usage analytics (non-essential): we use our own first-party analytics, hosted on our servers, to measure page views and how the Service is used. It stores a random visitor identifier in your browser's
localStorage(tbb_anon, kept until you clear site data) and a per-visit identifier for the current tab (discarded when the tab closes), and records pages visited, referrer, device/browser information, and where on a page you click. We do not store your raw IP address: it is converted to a non-reversible hash used only to count unique visitors. This data stays with us, is never sent to a third-party analytics provider, and is used only to understand and improve the Service, not for advertising. We do not sell it or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising. - Payment and sign-in providers: when you go through Stripe checkout or sign in with Google, those providers may set their own cookies on their pages, governed by their privacy and cookie policies.
We do not use advertising cookies
We do not use cookies for advertising, ad targeting, or cross-site tracking, and we do not allow advertising networks to track you through the Service.
Your choices
When you first visit, we show a consent banner and do not load the analytics script until you accept. You can change your mind at any time: reject analytics on the banner, use the Cookie settings link in the footer to reopen the banner, or clear this site's data in your browser to be asked again. Blocking the strictly necessary session cookie will prevent you from logging in. We also honor your browser's "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" signal as an automatic opt-out, in which case analytics never loads and no banner is shown.
Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The "Last updated" date above tracks the current version.
